The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
