Much like Storm Claudia tore through the north-west the night before, the home side blew United away at the Etihad. It was a convincing three-nil victory for Andrée Jeglertz’s side thanks to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Hemp. It was a display that truly announced their championship potential as they strengthened their position at the WSL pinnacle.

Back-to-Back Setbacks for United

This result represented back-to-back league defeats for the United manager's side for the maiden instance since spring 2024, putting them a sizable gap off the table toppers with their championship aspirations in serious doubt.

United’s ability to manage league and continental football with a thin roster has been a hotly discussed issue since they earned a place in the Champions League.
